Neighborhood

Posada, Pasada in the local dialect, is a village with approximately 2800 inhabitants, in the district of Nuoro. The current center is derived from the ancient village of Ferronia, built during the Punic period, very rich during the roman one, but declining during the Arabs incursions. On its ruins was built, in the medioeval age, Posada, who belonged to the 'Giudicato di Gallura' and was included in the administrative area of the same name. The adiministration fortified the village and biult the castle called 'della Fava' (Fava means broad bean). Conquered and lost many times, after many owners, the castle become the seats of the Judges of Gallura, and, sporadically, lived there also Eleonora d' Arborea. The virulence of Malaria, spread by the presence of many ponds, caused a depopulation of the country in 1345 and a decline of the production, bur not the taxes demanded by the crown of Aragona, which was at war with the Arborea, so that, was more for the fiscal oppression than for healt concerns, that the area was almost completely abandoned. Later, Posada become again property of Arborea. After the fall of Arborea, in 1410, Posata has been enfeoffed by the family of 'Aragona ai Carroz', counts of Mandas and Terranova (1431), also formally elevated to the title of Barony, and organised as capital of a group of villages (Torpe', Siniscola, Lode').

The beaches around Posada are beautiful. They obtained, in 2008 and 2009 the prestigious award of the 5 sails of Legambiente. Very beautiful is the beach of 'Su Tiriarzu' (see the picture above), easily reachable from the village following the signs. 'Su Tiriarzu' is surrounded by a landscape of great interest, is fringed by green vegetation and extends along the pounds of Longu and Tondi, and, behind, the village of Posada is visible, perched on a limestone outcrop. The coast has clear sand, bathed by a beautiful blue sea, crystal clear and shallow. Posada beach, has been selected, for the year 2013, best beach of Italy by Legambiente and Touring Club Italy, getting the highest rating of "5 sails". Approximately 2 kilometers south from the town, in the small village of San Giovanni, we recommend also the visit of the beach of San Giovanni (please visit the relative web page for more details and to see some images of the place)
